New to Content Server

Getter Started

New to Content Server

When I first started as a customer setting up Content Server (formerly Livelink) I would ask the consultants. “How do I (fill in the blank)?” The answer typically was, “It depends on what you want to do.”  This was frustrating since I knew mostly what I wanted to do, but not how to accomplish it in Content Server. I was looking for some guidance in that regard and wasn’t getting it.

We understand what it’s like to be a new user. Our team takes special care listening and learning about our client’s business so that we can provide guidance to those initial tough questions on how to get things setup and started.

Points to Ponder

Size Your Environment

How many users in your organization will be using Content Server?

Develop You Document Taxonomy

A what? “Taxonomy” is the classification of something. Applied to documents, it simply means how your documents are organized. If you’re not sure, we can help you set up a structure so that you can store all your documents in an organized fashion. Uploading documents is all well and good, but not very useful if you can’t find what you need when you need it.

Structure a Permission Model

Who can see which documents? Who has permission to make changes and who doesn’t? Who can move or delete documents? We can help set permissions so everyone can see what they need to see and work on without a lot of extraneous clutter.

Migrate Existing Content

Moving data on a large scale from point A to point B can be a daunting task. We have years of experience in smoothly migrating content from other data management systems into Content Server, as well as moving data from one version of Content Server to another.

How long does a data migration take? There’s no “one size fits all” answer, but we’ll be able to assess your systems and give you an accurate estimate of how long it’ll take and what’ll be involved in the process.

Establish a Disaster Recovery Plan

Disasters aren’t particularly fun to contemplate, but we can help you establish a plan for recovery. Knowing what to do if something happens is a great stress reliever.

Train Your Administrators

If you have an administrator who is new to Content Server, we can provide training. We’ve “been there, done that” and pass along our knowledge and expertise. If you need only a part-time administrator, we can do that for you.
